Review by hotel critic
During my recent stay in Oxford, I found the hotel’s ambiance to be a compelling fusion of traditional elegance and modern comfort. The lower tower—with its impressive staircase and intricate fan vaulting—was a lovely introduction to the establishment. The dining room was visually striking, featuring a magnificent wooden ceiling that is a testament to the building's rich history. Location-wise, the hotel is superbly situated. I appreciated the close proximity to both the New Westgate Shopping Centre for an abundance of shopping options and Radcliffe Square, where many significant college buildings are located. Exploring the nearby Oxford University Museum of Natural History was a highlight; immersing myself in its displays felt quite enriching—something any landscape photographer like myself can appreciate when capturing the beautiful surroundings. The staff were generally pleasant and accommodating. I particularly noted the convenience of having air-conditioned rooms, which provided a welcome respite from the summer heat. I did observe a slight lack of insight from the staff regarding some tourist attractions. All in all, this establishment effectively serves as a solid base for both cultural exploration and quiet relaxation in the heart of the city.
